Norris Edges Out Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out team-mate and title rival the Australian for the fastest time in the final moments of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the points lead from Piastri by a single point after winning in Mexico City two weeks ago, beat the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before sprint qualifying scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the points battle, trailing 36 points behind behind Norris, ended up in 17th place as his Red Bull team opted for a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to go off, if briefly, when he spun at the fourth corner early in the session.
Tsunoda lost control over the exit kerbs before rotating through the escape zone, and was fortunate to escape with just a slight brush of the barrier.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the very end of the session, spinning around through the fast downhill Mergulho corner approaching the last turn on to the start-finish straight.
The seven-time champion finished practice in P19, just behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's car P3, over half a second behind Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
