Recent details have emerged concerning the untimely deaths of esteemed director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were discovered at their Los Angeles home residence on Sunday.

A Discovery

As detailed in an account referencing a family associate, a therapist scheduled for an appointment initially became concerned after failing to get inside the home. The therapist then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives in the vicinity.

After gaining access to the home, Romy came upon her father's body. It is said she then fled the house in anguish, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was also present. A companion who had gone with her contacted 911. Afterward, emergency responders found Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Legal Proceedings

The police have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of first-degree murder, along with the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is now being held and is ineligible for bail.

Disputed Reports

The confidential informant challenged several initial details. They said that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a detached unit on the grounds, she did not identify him as a suspect at that moment.

The source also pushed back against published claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "worried" about Nick's behavior in recent weeks. Rather the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."

This correction also extends to descriptions of reportedly "unstable" behavior by Nick at a gathering hosted by Conan O'Brien on the night before the discovery. While the source noted they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they asserted that claims of a "major confrontation" between the two were inaccurate.

Ongoing Inquiry Details

Per law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had not yet established at that point whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Some accounts indicated the state of their bodies implied they had been deceased for a number of hours.

Nick Reiner was apprehended at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, about 15 miles from the scene. He was scheduled to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, stated his client had not been medically cleared and would not appear until Wednesday or later.
