Renowned Performer Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Known For Appearances in Friends and The Middle, Dies at 60 Years Old.
US actor Pat Finn, who appeared in popular television series such as Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has passed away aged 60.
The comedy and improvisation performer passed away at his residence in LA recently having undergone treatment for a cancer diagnosis beginning in 2022, per news outlets.
"Pat considered no one a stranger - only friends he hadn't encountered," his relatives said in a message.
They added that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".
A Notable Television Career
His debut TV appearance was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he portrayed the lead character's sibling.
He also had a repeating character on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.
He starred as the character Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, playing a host who would assign burdensome jobs to his guests.
Throughout the 90s and 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on numerous well-known programs, such as:
- King of Queens
- "Friends"
- That '70s Show
- "House"
He was most recognized for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight seasons between 2011 and 2018.
His cinematic roles are "It's Complicated" and "Santa Paws 2".
A Life in Improv
Beyond his acting parts, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.
He was part of a six-person improv troupe named Beer Shark Mice.
"He guided, supported, and advised many learners during his career and it would be difficult to find someone anywhere who has a bad thing to say about him," his family wrote.
Paying homage, fellow actor actor Richard Kind noted there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Always positive, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A wonderful father and man," he posted publicly.
Pat Finn is survived by his partner Donna, his children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
