Vinted Users Express Frustration Over Sizing Modifications

Members of the platform have expressed outrage due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.

The popular resale platform has updated its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all users about the change.

Online Platforms Reaction

Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.

The company said the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.

It has advised users to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, which has left users frustrated.

Sizing System Updates

Before the change, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.

In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

Shopper Stories

One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

A different member, located in Scotland, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.

"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she said.

Necessary Adjustments

Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".

"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she stated.

Platform Context

The service features exceeding 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: last year, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options after backlash from users.
